Malachi 1:6 A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If the i am a father, where is my honor? And if j am a master, where is my fear?
Malachi prophesied in a time of spiritual apathy and disappointment among the isrealites after their return from exile, His message seeks to awaken the people to their covenant responsibilities.
The isrealites had grown complacent in their worship, offering blemished sacrifice and failing to uphold the standards that God had set for them.
God voices His disappointment through the prophet Malachi, challenging His people to recognize their neglect of divine honour.
God. As our father and master, deserves our utmost respect. He pointed out that he deserved honour from them.
In our world today, believers have become too casual with God.
We no longer have fear of God both privately and publicly.
Most churches have been turned to a business center or a social gathering, where people meet to carry out transactions and display their wealth or affluence.
We are called to reflect on our own relationship with God and to consider how we honour Him in our daily lives.
We are also reminded that true worship stems from a heart that acknowledges God's sovereignty and majesty.
We are to examine how we honour God through our choices, our service, and our worship.
Our actions should not only fulfil religious obligations but should stem from a place of genuine love and respect.
We are invited to cultivate a sense of reverence in our approach to God.
Therefore, let us strive to cultivate a spirit of reverence and fear of God, ensuring that we honour our father and master in both our words and actions.
Reverence to God is a call to holiness and obedience to his command.
Almighty God, deliver me from every spirit of complacency and dishonour to you. Amen
