The glory of God's presence

Haggai 2:9 The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the lord almighty. And in this place i will grant peace, declares the lord almighty.

Haggai, a prophet during a critical time in isreal history, was called to encourage the people as they rebuilt the temple after their return from exile.

The former temple, built by Solomon, was magnificent, a symbol of Israel former glory.

Yet, as the people returned to their homeland, they face the daunting task of reconstructing a building that could never match the magnificence of the former.

God's message to encourage his people is that the glory of the present house, of the newly constructed temple, will surpass that of the former.

This declaration is not merely about architecture. It is a proclamation of God enduring presence and his commitment to his people.

The promise of Greater Glory emphasizes that what is to come, will surpass what has been.

Haggai prophecy reminds us that even in times of rebuilding and restoration, we can find peace and hope in God's presence.

In Christ, we witness the ultimate fulfillment of Haggai prophecy. Jesus Christ represent the ultimate glory of the latter house. He embodies the presence of God among us, offering a new covenant filled with grace and truth that transcends the old.

As such, we must recognize that our current struggles and challenges are often Stepping Stones towards greater things.

Just as the Israelite were called to look forward, we too are encouraged to anticipate the new things God will do in our lives.

As we strive to serve God, we reflect the greater glory that God has in store for us.

The glory of our lost past does not matter, but what matter is God's promise of a greater glory.

Almighty God, help me to stand firm in you as I look forward for the greater glory that comes from your presence.AMEN.
