Man's selfish plan against God's will

Genesis 11:4 Then they said, come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves, otherwise, we will be scattered over the face of the whole Earth.

Today's text is statement of plan made by men to make name for themselves by building a city and a tower that would reach heaven.

In this pivotal moment at the tower of Babel, humanity collectively decided to pursue fame and a sense of security on their own terms.

They were eager to establish a monumental city and a tower that would reach the heavens as against the divine plan for men to occupy and subdue the Earth (Genesis 12:8).

Their aspirations were rooted in pride, rather than seeking to honor their creator.

They desire to create a legacy for themselves against God's will.

This narrative serves as a sad reminder that human ambition, when it is against divine purpose, is displeasing and unacceptable to God.

In our contemporary lives, it is easy to become consumed by the pursuit of personal achievements or the allure of worldly accolades, often at the expense of our commitment to God's will.

However, we are called to surrender our ambitions to him, embracing a posture of trust in his timing and purpose.

When we surrender our plans and align them with divine guidance, we not only find clarity in purpose, but we also experience divine approval and support in our endeavors.

Living in humble submission to God's authority guards our hearts against the pride that can lead to confusion and failure.

Therefore, let us always evaluate our plans and aspirations in the light of God's will so that we may enjoy divine approval and support.

Omnipotent God, help me to align my desires and plans with your will.

True fulfilment and success or embedded in humility.
