Intimacy with God

Exodus, 3311. The Lord would speak to Moses's face-to-face as one speaks to a friend.

Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young age Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

True relationship with God goes beyond rituals it is about intimacy.

In today's text, we see a rare and beautiful glimpse of what it looks like to walk closely with God.

After israelites sinned by making a golden calf and committing idolatry, Moses pitched the tent of meeting outside the camp.

There he spoke with God not through thunder or fear, but as with a friend.

The text highlights the deep connection between Moses and the Lord. face-to-face symbolizes intimacy and trust.

Moses had a relationship with God marked by honesty and openness.

The relationship was not just about receiving instructions. It was about knowing God personally and intimately.

Joshua, who was Moses's age was also in the habit of remaining in the presence in the tent of meeting.

God desires an intimate and not a distant relationship with us.

He wants our relationship with him to be cordial and personal.

Let us establish a relationship with him through Jesus Christ, his son.

Then, we can spend time with him. Don't settle for second hand faith.

Be like Joshua who remained in his presence.

Just as best friends talk without pretence, God invites us to speak freely with him.

One woman said, I talk to God in my car like he's sitting beside me and he meets me there every time.

God still meets with his people today, draw nearer, speak honestly, and seek him like a friend.

The deeper the relationship, the clearer his voice becomes.

Loving Lord, draw me nearer to you each day and help me listen to your voice, Amen.

Prayers and the study of God's word cultivate a close friendship with our creator.
