The path of the wicked

Proverbs 4:19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness, they do not know over what they stumble.

The book of proverbs contrasts the path of the righteous and the wicked, describing them as light and darkness.

Today's text states that, the way of the wicked is like darkness, they do not know what makes them stumble.

In biblical wisdom literature, darkness symbolizes ignorance, sin, and separation from God, while light represents truth, righteousness and divine guidance.

Proverbs 4:19 highlights the peril of those who live outside gods wisdom.

Such people stumble through life, unaware of what causes their downfall, because sin blinds them spiritually.

Unlike the righteous who walk securely in God's light, the wicked live in confusion, deception, and destruction.

Imagine walking in a pitch dark room filled with obstacles, you are bound to trip and fall, not because you intend to, but because you cannot see.

It is a terrible experience to walk in darkness.

Similarly, those who reject the light of Christ walk in darkness and stumble through life's challenges without direction.

For believers, we are called to reject the path of sin and pursue the way of Christ, who is the light of the world, John 8:12.

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that the deeds will be exposed John 3:20.

We must choose daily to walk in obedience, allowing God's word to guide our steps.

The darkness of sin leads to confusion, but the light of Christ brings clarity, peace and purpose.

Lord Jesus, keep my feet from the way of darkness and guide me in the light of your truth.

Christ's light is a guide for the righteous
