The necessity of repentance

Luke 13:5 I tell you, no, but unless you repent you will likewise perish.

Some Jews came to Jesus talking about some Galileans whose blood was mixed with the sacrifices by Pilate.

However, Jesus replied that the said Galileans were not worse sinners then others.

He gave them another instance where the tower in Siloam fell and killed some, that the victims were not more guilty than others in Jerusalem.

He then warns him about suffering the same fate unless they would repent.

Jesus warned that failure to repent would destruction.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of lent, 40 days of prayer and fasting.

The Ash imposition reminds us of our frailty (Genesis 319).

It is a sign of humility, calling us to remember that life is short, and eternity is real.

Jesus' words emphasize the urgent need for repentance.

True repentance is more than regret.

It is a decisive turning away from sin and a turning toward God.

It involves confession, humility, and a willingness to change.

Lent invites us to walk this path not with despair but with hope, for Christ's sacrifice on the cross is a guarantee for forgiveness and restoration for all who repent sincerely.

Let us reflect deeply on our walk with God.

What sins have we ignored or excused? Where have we resisted his call? We should not delay.

Repentance brings freedom, peace, and renewed fellowship with the Lord.

Let us observe the season with a humble heart, ready to be renewed by the mercy of God, who has promised forgiveness to all who genuinely repent.

Gracious Lord, grant me a repentant heart and renew my spirit as I walk this lenten journey.

Repentance is the doorway to life and renewal
