GROWING IN WISDOM

Proverbs 99 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

The book of proverbs is a collection of wise sayings inspired by God to guide his people in righteous living.

Today's verse highlights the humility and openness of the wise to correction and growth, in contrast to the proud who reject instruction.

Wisdom in this context is not mere knowledge, but the  Fear of the Lord leading to moral discipline, humility, and discernment.

Thus, the wise are those who continually learn by listening to instructions.

They become wiser through their willingness to learn an openness to correction.

The righteous also demonstrate righteousness by embracing God's truth.

They increase in knowledge as they embrace teachings and corrections whenever they err.

It is very impressive for a teacher to have a student who is eager to learn.

The more he listens in practice, the better he becomes.

Likewise, believers must always remain teachable before God.

As Christians, we must cultivate humility to accept correction from the scriptures, spiritual leaders, and life experiences.

Growth in wisdom requires a heart willing to learn, not a spirit of pride. Wisdom is a journey, not a destination.

Those who desire to walk with God must remain open to his guidance daily through the reading of the scriptures and listening to his word.

Continual learning is thereby requisite for growth in wisdom and righteousness.

No matter what our level of achievement may be, we need to continually embrace godly instructions and corrections to avoid becoming spiritually stagnant.

It is, therefore, a disservice to oneself to reject instruction and learning.

Dear Holy Spirit, Give me a teachable heart Amen.

The day you stop learning is the day you start dying.
