1Samuel 27:1 David said in his heart, Now, I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul, there is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the philistines, then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.
David, though anointed as king, found himself weary and afraid after years of fleeing saul's relentless pursuit.
He said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul.
This thought reveals a lapse of faith, as he shifted from trusting God's promises to relying on his own reasoning, seeking refuge among the philistines.
This exposes the danger of inward fear and despair when one forgets the past experiences of deliverance.
David, who had once slain Goliath by faith now speaks words of doubt, showing how even the strongest believers can falter when fear overshadows faith.
His fear was reasonable but may not be justifiable when evaluated from the angle of faith.
Just like David, we sometimes rely on our limited perspective instead of remembering God's faithfulness.
Our decision in times of fear can ruin the fulfillment of God's purpose in our lives.
While it is good to use our common sense, some steps we take based on common sense may expose us to more trouble than what we are trying to avoid.
Brethren, when fear tempts us to doubt, we must remind ourselves of God's promises and trust his plan (Hebrews 10:23).
Let us hold fast to God's promises, even when circumstances appear dark.
let us learn to trust God fully, knowing that he who delivered David countless times will never abandon us.
Fear and doubt will come naturally, however, let us learn to seek the face of God for guidance rather than submitting to fear.
Heavenly Lord, teach me to continue to trust you no matter the circumstances,
God is always with us even in scary situations.
