THE BLESSINGS OF HEARING GOD'S WORD

Revelation1:3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

The book of Revelation was written during a time of persecution for early Christians.

It served as both a warning and an encouragement, revealing the ultimate victory of good over evil.

The author, traditionally identified as John, emphasizes the importance of not only reading, but also hearing and accepting the word of God. This blessedness is not merely about passive listening, but rather an active engagement with the message. The words contained within are not just historical accounts, but relevant to our lives today.

The phrase the time is near serves as a reminder that we are called to live with a sense of immediacy and purpose.

As such, we are encouraged to cultivate a heart that is receptive to God's guidance.

As Christian, we are to be doers of the word and not merely hearers James 1:22.

This duality of reading and taking to heart forms a foundation for Christian living.

In our contemporary context, we are encouraged to explore how we can actively engage with scripture in our daily lives.

We must hide in our heart the word of God which in turn will lead and guide us in our Christian journey psalm 119:11.

Additionally, we are to be open-minded, like the people of Berea who not only listen to Paul's teachings, but continually search the scriptures day-by-day to confirm what they have learnt Acts17:11.

Therefore, the responsibility lies on us to cherish the reading of God's word and support one another in living out its truth.

Merciful father,  grant me the grace to be hearer and doer of your word at all time, Amen

There is blessing and hearing and doing the word. Of God.
