Ezra 9:9 For we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, but has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protection in Judea in Jerusalem.
Though the israelites were in bondage, Ezra acknowledged gods mercy in granting them a little reviving in their slavery.
God allowed the remnants of his people to return, rebuild the temple and establish spiritual order.
The remnants did not just enjoy physical safety but also spiritual renewal and divine protection during their restoration.
God's steadfast love was made evident in their story as they enjoyed his favor in the presence of the kings of Persia.
Today's text reveals that even in their unworthiness, Gods grace provided strength, stability and hope for his people.
It was a reminder for the people that their security was found not in themselves but in God's mercy.
A broken city that receives new foundations and protective walls reminds us of a soul once lost in sin but revived by God's grace.
Like Israel, we often face seasons of captivity, bondage to fear, sin or failure.
Yet God, in his mercy, grants us revival, protection, and the opportunity to rebuild our lives in him.
Let us not abuse, but maximize the opportunity we have to enjoy divine mercy.
Our gratitude should lead us to renewed faithfulness, not compromise.
When we acknowledge God's mercy in our weakness, we find strength to rise and walk in obedience.
As Christians, we should be wary of taking the mercy of God for granted.
Merciful Lord help us to treasure your mercy and live faithfully by your grace.
The Lord is a wall of protection and source of revival for his people.
