The reality of sin

Zachariah 3:3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.

The imagery in today's passage present Joshua, the high priest, standing before an angel of the lord, adorned in filthy garments. These garments symbolizes sin.

Joshua was a high priest, who ought to minister in God's presence. However, the barrier of sin deprived him from enjoying fellowship with God.

Satan, the accuser of the brethren was also present to deny him access to God's presence.

In this moment, we witness the weight of spiritual failure and the reality of our human condition.

It is in the very filth and shame that we begin to see the act of divine redemption.

Just as Joshua stood before the angel, we also must confront our shortcomings. We are encouraged to come as we are, recognizing that our past does not define our future.

We are invited into a relationship with God where he cleanses us and offers us new garments of righteousness.

We must realize that sin is the property of the devil and we become slaves to him whenever we indulge in sin.

We also expose ourselves to untold hardship and danger if we do not turn to God in genuine repentance.

Each individual carries burden and struggles that may not be visible. As followers of christ, let us take these lessons to heart and strive to live in a way that reflects the transformative power of God's grace and remember that no matter how filthy our garments may be, God is always ready to clothe us anew.

If you must serve God, then your garment must be clean and free from spot of sin.

Lord by your mercy. Remove every filthy rag of sin from my life and replace them with a clean clothing of righteousness.
