THE EVIL OF SCHEMING

Genesis 4:8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, let's go out to the field, while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

God had given Cain ample warning concerning the dangerous state in which he finds himself.

However, he was angry because God rejected him and his offering.

His anger plunged him into murdering his brother, Cain did not listen to divine warning.

He allowed the evil to fester and grow in his heart.

He deceived his brother to follow him to the field, where he killed him in cold blood.

It was the first murder case recorded in the history of man.

Cain's impulsive violence and subsequent denial of responsibility revealed a selfish and rebellious nature of sin against God.

His anger over God's rejection of his sacrifice transformed into envy and then murder.

When we feel rejected or overlooked, the sinful nature can lead us to lash out at others, there is a need for us to always examine our hearts.

We must examine our own hearts for the seeds of anger, envy, bitterness, or unforgiveness, that can lead to destructive behavior.

Let us be wary of scheming for revenge when we are offended.

It is better to address our grievances quickly and in a spirit of humility, rather than letting anger fester and lead to greater harm.

Anytime we think about plotting evil, let us also think about the consequences that may follow.

As Christians, we should be guided by the Holy Spirit in all our actions.

Let us also ensure that the meditations of our hearts are in accordance with the word of God.

omniscient God, help us to always examine our hearts before we take any action in life. Amen.

Woe to those who scheme iniquity who work out evil on their beds.
