The disgusting attitudes of false prophets

Jeremiah 23:13 Among the prophets of Samaria, I saw this repulsive thing, they prophesied by Bael and led my people Isreal astray.

Jeremiah ministered during a spiritually decayed period when many leaders abandoned truth.

Instead of representing God, the prophets of Samaria aligned with bael, misleading the people into idolatry.

God calls this repulsive, emphasizing the gravity of their attitudes and the seriousness of spiritual corruption.

Prophets held authority, yet they misused it, betraying trust and distorting truth.

Thus, today's text is a reminder that when leaders who are supposed to be God's representative forsake the truth, the entire communities suffer.

God's anger is not just against his people's ignorance, but the deliberate deception by the false Prophets.

His standard for leadership is faithfulness and integrity.

Today, we face similar dangers, false voices promise blessings without obedience, twisting God's word for gain.

Some so-called men of God perform fake miracles while some use diabolic power to hypnotize their followers.

We should know that spiritual deception, like fake currency, looks convincing but lacks real value.

A traveller who follows a fake road sign would be lost and endangered.

Likewise, false prophecy or teaching leads to spiritual ruin.

Believers must measure every word in light of the scriptures, just as sailors use their compass to navigate on the sea and not the shifting winds.

Strength comes by holding to God's truth, even when it is unpopular.

Therefore, the word of God remains our safeguard against living a life of deception or being deceived.

The right path is not in following the loudest and fascinating voice. But in the truth of God's word.

Gracious father, make me rooted in your word, so I will not be misled by false prophecy.
