REJECTING CHRIST

Matthew 8:34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.

After Jesus healed two demon possessed men in the region of the Gadarenes, the townspeople witnessed a dramatic transformation.

The men who once terrified the community were now calm and clothed.

Yet Instead of rejoicing over their deliverance, the people begged Jesus to leave.

Their fear and rejection revealed that they valued their material losses, (the herd of pigs that drowned) more than the salvation of souls.

This moment exposes the human tendency to prefer comfort over conviction and possessions over the presence of God.

Jesus did not argue or force his way in.

He quietly departed, respecting their decision, even though they had rejected the greatest blessing ever to visit their land.

In our world today, many still ask Jesus to leave their lives not with words, but by choosing sin over repentance, profit over integrity, and worldly pleasure over spiritual renewal.

Sometimes, we too can resist his transforming power when it challenges our comfort zones.

Christ will not dwell where he is unwelcomed, yet he always leaves behind a testimony of his mercy.

We must ensure our hearts do not mirror the rejection of Christ, instead of asking him to leave, let us invite him to reign in our hearts, our homes and even in our community.

Let us not allow our selfish interest or personal gain to deprive the value of Christ's presence in our lives.

We should know that when we reject Christ, we miss the benefit of presence.

Father Lord, help me to always value your presence above my possessions or comfort Amen.

Those who reject Christ are ignorant of his value.
