THE FUTILITY OF ANXIETY

Matthew 6:27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Have you ever spent the whole night worrying about something,  only to wake up and realize it never happened?

You are not alone. Anxiety is one of the biggest battles in this world today. Bills, health, job security, family, and many other things, our mind can run 100km/hr.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:27 that worrying can't change anything, it only steals today.

Today let's talk about why anxiety is futile, what it reveals about our faith, and biblical steps to trade worry for God's peace.

What Jesus Teaches About Worry

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus was teaching and never said don't plan or don’t work hard, He says don’t be consumed.

The word worrying here means to be torn in pieces. That exactly what anxiety does, it divides your mind.

Jesus uses the birds and the flowers to give a good example. The birds don't have barns or savings account, but God feeds them. The flowers are been clothed by God, He clothes them in beauty. Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of them

If God cares for birds and flowers, how much more does He care for you?

Worry assumes God is not enough. But putting faith in God shows Hebis enough.

The Ways Anxiety Hurts You

Worry may feel productive, but it actually does not produce anything, only damage

Worry wastes today's strength on tomorrow's uncertainty.  You can't solve next month problem with today's energy, focus on today cause God gives grace for each day.

While you are worrying about the future uncertainties, you are missing God's blessings that is happen that moment. You can't enjoy your family job, or church when your mind is in the future.

Prayer should be an alternative not worrying, worry magnifies the problem and minimize God.

Medical studies link chronic anxiety to high blood pressure, insomnia, weak immune system, and Burnout. The soul and body are connected.

The world tells us worry means you care, but Jesus teaches us to trust in God and believe in Him.

What Trusting God Actually Looks Like

Faith is not denial, Faith does not ignore reality, a believer can still have bills, sickness, or job pressure. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.

Trusting God is acknowledging Him as your provider, choosing peace over control, living one day at a time.

We worry because we want control. But peace is not found in control. It's found in surrender. Jesus said Each day has enough trouble of its own. Don't borrow tomorrow trouble. Deal with today.

Five Practical Steps to Break Free From Anxiety

  1. Take it to prayer immediately: the moment worry hits, pray.
  2. Preach Truth To Yourself: speak scripture out loud. Declare the word of God in your life. My Father knows what i need, God has not given me a spirit of fear.
  3. Practice Gratitude: Anxiety focuses on what is missing. Gratitude focuses on what God has done.
  4. Limit what feed your fear: Too much news, social media, and negative talks fuels anxiety. Guard your mind
  5. Do The Next Right Thing: Faith and actions kills anxiety. Can't pay all bills? Pay what you can today and trust God for the rest. Can't fix everything? Do the one thing in front of you.

God Who Keeps Promises Can Handle Your Tomorrow

Numbers 23:19 God is not man, that he should lie. The God who fed and clothed the isrealites in the wild, who raised Jesus from the dead, that same God has not changed. He is tested. He keeps promises. When you cast your cares on Him you trade anxiety for assurance. You trade what if for God is.

Anxiety cannot add anything meaningful to your life, it cannot provide solution to problems, but trust in God gives you rest, strength and trusting God reminds you that He is in control

PRAYER

LOVING LORD, TEACH ME TO TRUST YOU COMPLETELY AND REST IN YOUR PEACE.
